How to use it
- Add the Word file (.docx) you want to convert to HWP.
- When the conversion finishes you'll see a preview of the first page, the page count and the number of images carried over.
- Save it with Download HWP, then open it in Hancom Office for a final touch-up.
What gets carried over?
- Carried over: body text, bold, italic and underline, headings (as larger bold text), bulleted and numbered lists, tables and table borders, images (PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP)
- Not carried over: headers and footers, footnotes, page numbers, font family and color, paragraph indents and line spacing, shapes, charts and equations, multi-column layouts
So it works best as a way to get your content into HWP and then tidy it up to match the required template. If the page layout has to be an exact match, consider saving the Word file as PDF and submitting that instead.
FAQ
Can I convert an older Word file (.doc)?
The .doc format isn't supported. Open the file in Word, choose “Save As” and save it as a Word Document (.docx), then add it here.
Which versions of Hancom Office can open the HWP file?
The file is saved in the standard format used since Hangul 2002 (HWP 5.0). It opens in current versions of Hangul and Hancom Office.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion happens entirely inside the browser you're using, and your document is never sent anywhere.
It says some images "could not be carried over".
Special image formats inside Word, such as EMF and WMF, can't be converted yet. Re-insert those images manually in Hancom Office.
This product was developed with reference to the publicly released Hangul word processor file (.hwp) specification from Hancom Inc. HWP processing uses the open-source rhwp library (MIT) and DOCX reading uses mammoth.js (BSD).
